The criteria includes exceptional innovation, improved efficiency, profitability or successful investment in port operations.<\/p>\n Finalists for the awards were chosen by a panel of industry executives. The judges commented that this year\u2019s submissions made the decision-making process extremely difficult because there were so many qualified entrants, \u201creflecting the dynamic nature of the industry at this time and a quest for excellence in shipping.\u201d<\/p>\n The Lloyd\u2019s List Awards honors shipping and logistics companies, ports, environmental initiatives, training and innovation across the Americas.<\/p>\n Taking part this year were some of the maritime industry\u2019s biggest shipowners, including Shell Shipping & Maritime, Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Carnival Corporation and Holland America Group.<\/p>\n \u201cOperational excellence and our deep commitment to the customer has been recognized again but the proof and true recognition is in the numbers,\u201d Port Houston Executive Director Roger Guenther said. \u201cOur customers continue choosing Port Houston and the all-water services calling our facilities above all other options as the best gateway to import and export their cargo.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Port Houston was named \u201cPort Operator of the Year\u201d during Lloyd\u2019s List 2018 Americas Awards May 23.
