{"id":2167,"date":"2016-12-19T22:19:00","date_gmt":"2016-12-19T22:19:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/porthouston.com\/portweb-port-participates-at-metro-export-plan-forum\/"},"modified":"2023-11-17T14:18:12","modified_gmt":"2023-11-17T20:18:12","slug":"port-participates-at-metro-export-plan-forum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/porthouston.com\/port-participates-at-metro-export-plan-forum\/","title":{"rendered":"Port Participates at Metro Export Plan Forum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 640px;\" src=\"https:\/\/porthouston.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/export-forum.jpg\" alt=\"export forum.jpg\" width=\"640\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Jordan Frisby, Port Houston\u2019s Economic Analyst, contributed to the Greater Houston Partnership\u2019s (GHP) Metro Export Plan Forum event December 14 along with representatives from ACM Logistics and Consulting, Houston District Export Council, Houston Airport System, Commercial Service Houston and the University of Houston\u2019s Small Business Development Center.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The theme of the event was \u201cHouston Growing Exports.\u201d The panel discussed how to start exporting or increasing exports with countries like China and Mexico, two of the largest trade players in the world. Trade Specialists Sergio G\u00f3mez Lora and Tom Tong provided their experiences doing business internationally.<\/p>\n<p>The Metro Export Plan, as part of GHP\u2019s Global Cities Initiative, is a project of the Brookings Institution and JPMorgan Chase that began in April 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Houston is the number one metropolitan area for exports in the U.S, which there was no surprise that Houston was one of the few cities selected to partner and develop the Metro Export Plan with GHP in 2015. The forum event is one of the first educational workshops produced from the plan, which was released earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany organizations in the Houston area have programs to help small businesses to start exporting, including Port Houston.
